A large part of being an ACEC Utah member is attending networking events to stay up to date with the latest trends and industry news. Although networking may look different in the COVID-19 era with an increase of virtual events, it is still a vital part of our culture.

Or if you know someone who is interested in becoming a member, attending a networking event is a great way to introduce them to the organization. If you’ve recently started your own engineering or construction business and are looking for exposure, you’ll need to start regularly attending networking events.

If the event is in-person, be sure to bring cards to give out to friends and colleagues. If the event is virtual, be sure to let people know they can follow you on social media or even drop a link to your new website. You never know who could be interested.

When you regularly attend networking events, you’ll be the first to know about the latest industry trends.

For example, in the 2022 industry forecast, there was a lot of updated information about what the industry will look like for the next year. When you become a member of ACEC Utah, you’ll be given the chance to submit your work to the Engineering Excellence Awards. This is one of the biggest and most innovative events of the year that inspires many to contribute to the industry. If you’re unable to make it in person this year, the gala will be streamed virtually.
