It’s a common misunderstanding that only well established engineering firms join industry groups such as The American Council of Engineering Companies of Utah (ACEC Utah). It’s just not true! In fact, membership holds many benefits for firms of all sizes and with all levels of experience, from those staffed mostly with fresh college graduates to those with deep roots in Utah’s engineering industry.
What is ACEC Utah? We are the business association of Utah’s engineering industry. Founded in 1953, the council represents independent engineering companies throughout Utah engaged in the development of the state’s transportation, environmental, water and industrial infrastructure. Our mission is to contribute to Utah’s prosperity and welfare by advancing the business interests of member firms.
One of our chief roles is to advocate for infrastructure investment by eliminating regulatory and tax barriers at the Legislature, at the local level and in the courts. We also have a Political Action Committee that helps elect House and Senate members who support a pro-engineering agenda.
Membership opens up the opportunity to socialize with other engineers at monthly luncheons, where members can swap ideas and solve problems with their peers. Members also can attend professional conferences and seminars offered here in Utah and webinars via our national organization’s website. We also offer the ACEC Utah Leadership Institute and Senior Executive Institute.
Membership benefits everyone in your engineering firm — principals, associates, affiliates and staff. ACEC membership is open to consulting engineering firms with offices in Utah, while associate membership is available to non-engineering companies that offer services that complement our members’ services.
