We pride ourselves in being the “on point” organization for all things trending in the engineering industry including news, regulations and legislation. We have two goals: advocacy and training. One of the ways we advocate for our political interests and keep up with training is by attending networking events and building awareness of our brand. Our talented members help us stay at the forefront of the industry by regularly attending prestigious conferences and seminars like our monthly membership luncheon and Engineering in Excellence Awards and by using the following techniques:
Share what makes you unique
Our best members are the most passionate and openly share their innovative ideas. While networking with others, be sure to share your personal story instead of getting straight to logistics. If you are struggling to find what makes you unique, try brainstorming with other ACEC Utah members before your next event.
Utilize social media channels
Even if you are new to social media, it’s important to keep an active Twitter and LinkedIn account to help build your personal brand. Twitter is a great social platform for establishing a consistent presence. Consider publishing engineering news and interacting with other industry members. LinkedIn, on the other hand, is the best place to search for jobs, connect with peers and to build credibility by posting professional news and career updates.
Host your own event
Establish credibility and showcase your expertise by hosting your own networking event. Since it can be tough to find a human connection in your day-to-day life, finding ways to get together outside of work can help you build a professional community, put a face to your brand and encourage others to join our organization.
