What’s “Engineers Week” all about?

Did you know that Engineers Week is right around the corner? This year, it runs from February 19 through the 25. “What is Engineers Week?” you might ask. Well, it’s a celebration of how engineers make a difference in the world, and it’s a great way to raise awareness for the engineering fields, especially for children and educators.

This year, the theme of Engineers Week is “Engineers Dream Big.” Engineers are great at turning dreams into reality, and typically, their dreams are all about solving big problems. They use a combination of creative thinking and technical skills to dream big and achieve real results.

Looking for fun ways to participate this year? Here’s just a brief list of ways to use your expertise and experience to spread excitement about engineering:

• Talk to a classroom, girl or boy scout troupe, or after-school program about STEM careers
• Give a group tour of a workplace to kids or college students
• Commit to tutor a student in a STEM subject they’re struggling with
• Write a blog or social media post to spread awareness for Engineers Week

Remember, Engineers Week is a great time to raise awareness for everything that engineers do to solve important problems, but it’s more than that. It needs to be a year-round commitment to make a difference, get involved, and change the world.
